A motion is circular when the trajectory is a circumference; it is uniform when the magnitude of the velocity is constant. Even though the speed does not change in magnitude, its direction changes continuously: the body is therefore accelerated. This section introduces the quantities that describe circular motion and the centripetal acceleration that sustains it.
