Graph reading: g(r)g(r) inside and outside the Earth. The graph shows g(r)g(r) as a function of rr starting from the Earth’s centre: it rises linearly up to r=RTr = R_T, then decreases as 1/r21/r^2. Explain the physical origin of the two behaviours.

Linear growth inside, decrease 1/r2\propto 1/r^2 outside; the maximum is at the surface (r=RTr = R_T).
