Problem
A bathtub contains kg of water at C. How much energy, in MJ and in kWh, is needed to bring it to C? Data: J/(kg·K).
Solution
Heat required. With kg and a rise K: Conversion to kWh. Since kWh J: Water’s high specific heat explains why heating a full bathtub takes quite a lot of energy.
