Problem

A light bulb carrying a current $i = 0{,}50\ \text{A}$ has a voltage $V = 6{,}0\ \text{V}$ across it. Calculate its resistance.

Solution

The resistance of an ohmic component is the ratio between the applied voltage and the current flowing through it (Ohm’s first law): $R = \frac{V}{i}$

Substituting the data: $R = \frac{6{,}0\ \text{V}}{0{,}50\ \text{A}} = 12\ \Omega$

$\ev{R = 12\ \Omega}$
