Problem — Flux through a rectangular loop

Problem

A rectangular loop with sides $a=20\ \text{cm}$ and $b=10\ \text{cm}$ is immersed in a uniform field $B=2{,}0\ \text{T}$ perpendicular to its plane. Calculate the magnetic flux through the loop.

Solution

Area of the loop: $A=a\,b=0{,}20\cdot 0{,}10=0{,}02\ \text{m}^2$

The field is perpendicular to the plane, so $\theta=0$ and $\cos\theta=1$: $\Phi_B=B\,A\cos\theta=2{,}0\cdot 0{,}02\cdot 1=0{,}04\ \text{Wb}$ $\ev{\Phi_B=0{,}04\ \text{Wb}}$
