Physicist — Nathan Rosen (Brooklyn, 1909 – Haifa, 1995) was an American physicist, later naturalised Israeli, who worked closely with Albert Einstein as his assistant at Princeton. In 1935 he co-authored, with Einstein and Boris Podolsky, the famous paper on the “EPR paradox”, which questioned the completeness of quantum mechanics by highlighting the implications of entanglement. Also in 1935, with Einstein, he developed the concept of the “Einstein-Rosen bridge”, a solution of the equations of general relativity now known as a wormhole. Rosen devoted much of his career to general relativity and helped found scientific institutions in Israel, in particular at the Technion in Haifa.
Fun fact
The 1935 “Einstein-Rosen bridge” is the conceptual ancestor of the wormholes of science fiction, tunnels that would connect distant regions of spacetime.
